This policy covers the CaesuraLab mobile app for iOS and Android, distributed through the App Store and Google Play.
The short version: the app collects nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted anywhere. It works entirely offline, on your device.
None. The mobile app has no account system and no way to sign in. It does not ask for your name, your email address, or any other personal information, and it has no means of sending information about you to us or to anyone else.
We do not know who you are, that you installed the app, or how you use it.
The built-in tuner uses your device's microphone to detect pitch. Your device will ask your permission before the tuner can listen, and you can deny or revoke that permission at any time in your device settings — the rest of the app works without it.
All audio is analyzed on your device, in real time, purely to determine what pitch is sounding. No audio is recorded, saved, or transmitted. Nothing is kept after the sound has been measured.
The app saves your preferences and progress — things like your instrument, tuner calibration, metronome programs, and quiz results — to your device's local storage. This stays on your device. It is not sent to us, it is not backed up to our servers, and we cannot see it.
Deleting the app removes it. You can also clear it from within your device's app settings.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking or measurement services of any kind. It includes no third-party SDKs that collect data, and it makes no network requests to us or to anyone else during normal use.
We do not sell, share, or disclose personal information, because we do not have any.
CaesuraLab is designed for band students, including students under 13, and is appropriate for them.
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. There is nothing to consent to the collection of, nothing shown to children as advertising, and nothing disclosed to any third party. This is how the app meets the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play's Families policy requirements — not by restricting what children may do, but by not collecting anything from any user in the first place.
CaesuraLab also offers a separate web version for schools, where directors create classes and students sign in so that assignments and results can be shared with their teacher. That version is not this app, and it is not available through the App Store or Google Play.
If you are using CaesuraLab in a class through the web, the applicable policy is the main CaesuraLab privacy policy, which describes accounts, student data, FERPA, and school consent under COPPA.
If the mobile app ever begins collecting information, this policy will be updated to say so plainly before that change ships, and the revised date above will change. We will not quietly start collecting data under an unchanged policy.
